Topic: What ever happened to Team Fortress 2?
For those of you who don't know, Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms was supposed to be Valve Software's follow-up to the popular Half-Life mod. Where is it now?
Publisher Sierra Entertainment still has a page for TF2 on their site, but no mention of when the game might be coming out. In fact, the last news item posted on the site is dated January 23rd, 2001. Has it really been over a year since we've received any updates on the development of this game? Even the forums on Sierra's site contain wild speculation on the game, with one member suggesting that the game won't be released until 2042.
Perhaps you want to pre-order the game (which will be available in April 2002?) from online retailer Chips & Bits, but who knows if it will ever come.
[urlquote=http://www.chipsbits.com/cgi-bin/order.cbi_home?source=80494&newpage=infopages/HALFLTF2.IR.html]Team Fortress 2 is destined to change the way online games are played. With Team Fortress 2, you'll experience the thrill of battle while performing as part of a team or battle squadron. This unique approach more closely approximates real-life battle and enables new and experienced players to play together in a way that challenges each individual and enhances the overall experience.[/urlquote]
It does sound like it'll be pretty exciting... if it ever comes out. Perhaps Valve has given up on this project. Maybe they're dedicating all their time to the wildly popular Counter-Strike mod. They do have an upcoming single player game based on this mod, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, maybe they're just focusing their efforts on what will take the least effort to create to pad their coffers in the shortest amount of time.
What ever the case, somebody out their must obviously know something, right? Anything? Anybody? ... Hello?
