Topic: Madden 2k2

I recently picked up Madden 2K2 to try to tide me over until the next football season.  I think the graphics are awesome, but the user interface is TERRIBLE.  So bad that I rarely even play it because it's such a crummy process to set up a new game or change controller settings.   I'm just using the keyboard as my controller, and the limitations and interface for setting up commands just sucks.  Plus, and this might just be because I just started playing and really suck at it, but it seems like if I change keyboard controller settings, when it comes to game time, it still only accepts default key settings.  Has anyone else found this games UI to be frustratingly limiting?  I'm just wondering if anyone else has put some effort into M2K2--is it worth the horrible UI?  Is it worth buying a joystick for?  Any thoughts?

Just an update on my previous post--I did 2 things to give Madden2K2 a second chance:  I updated the game to the latest version (I stupidly hadn't done that before), and I ended up buying a gamepad (a Logitech Wingman) to see if that improved on the Madden gameplay. 

I've just gotta say that the patch fixed a TON of the crappy UI problems, and that buying a controller was WELL worth it.  It makes sense that a PC version of a Console game would be improved with a gamepad (heck, that's what the controls were originally designed around), but I'm amazed at how much a gamepad turned around  my view of this game--I frickin' LOVE it now!  I still suck at it, but it's a lot more fun and definately more playable now.

If anyone's thinking of picking up this game, I give it a big thumbs up.  Just get a controller with it if you don't already have one.
